Six girls suspended for drinking alcohol in class; govt orders probe

CHENNAI: Six students have been suspended for drinking liquor inside a classroom. Students of ninth class studying in a government aided school in Palayamkottai Tirunelveli have been suspended. The education department has ordered a probe into the incident.

The video shows girls in uniform sitting in a circle inside a classroom. A girl of their class captured the video and they were suspended after it went viral.

It is not clear from where they got the liquor. The school authorities informed that they will be allowed to write the exams. The authorities clarified that in the wake of the incident, all students will be subjected to counselling.
