Startups should design AI projects based on India's needs: Modi

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked AI startup leaders to design projects based on India’s needs. He raised this demand during a meeting at his office with the CEOs and founders of 16 startups working in AI and deep tech. They had come to Delhi to attend the AI summit.

The discussion focused on how artificial intelligence can be used in areas such as agriculture, environmental protection, and promoting higher education in mother tongues. CEOs and founders of startups, including Abridge, Adalat AI, Brainsight AI, Credo AI, Eka Care, Gleen, Innogl, InVideo, Miko, Origin, Prophesee, Rasen, Rubrik, SatSure, Supernova, and Ziff AI, attended the meeting.

The Prime Minister also met UN Secretary-General António Guterres. The CEOs later visited Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan. Visitors can also attend the expo today.

Tharoor praises summit
Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor praised the AI summit, saying it was well organised. He added that minor shortcomings are natural in any large event. However, the Congress had earlier criticised the BJP, alleging that the AI summit was turned into a “China market” instead of a platform for innovation and dialogue.

Seven MoUs for Andhra Pradesh
The Andhra Pradesh government made use of the summit by signing seven Memorandums of Understanding. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu aims to turn Andhra Pradesh into an AI hub. Agreements were signed with major companies, including IBM. Naidu also attended the summit.

‘Thank You, India’
French President Emmanuel Macron posted 'Thank you, India' on his X account while returning from the summit. He shared a video highlighting moments from his India visit. Macron was one of the prominent participants at the summit.
