SRINAGAR: Two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district by the Indian Army. The encounter was at dawn today. The encounter took place during a search operation as part of Operation Gugaldhar. After seeing the suspicious presence of terrorists in Kupwara, the army was alerted and finally opened fire.
This was a joint search by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police in connection with the infiltration of terrorists in Gugaldhar area of the district. The search is still ongoing in the area. Meanwhile, two soldiers were injured in a bomb blast near the Line of Control in Kupwara last day. They have been admitted to a military hospital. The health condition of soldiers is satisfactory.
Recently, a police officer was killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district. Both the terrorists were killed by security forces. Basheer Ahmed, a head constable of the police force, was killed. A sub-inspector was injured. The encounter took place in Kog-Mandali village of Kathua district. The forces reached the area following a tip-off that terrorists were hiding inside a house in the village. Then there was a shootout between the terrorists and the security forces.
