PUNE: Two tourists drowned in Pune after a bridge in Kundmala collapsed in one tragic incident on Sunday. The accident took place in Kundmala, a busy tourist destination during the monsoon season. Almost 20 tourists fell into the overflowing river after the bridge collapsed.
The bridge over the Indrayani River collapsed. Rescue operations are in progress at the site. Many more people are yet to be rescued.
According to Pimpri Chinchwad Police, almost 15 tourists are feared to be trapped in the overflowing river. It is reported that the bridge had a tentative renovation almost five years back and the locals have been raising concerns over the construction till very recently.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) reached the spot and rescue operations are in progress.
