CHENNAI: A youth who arrived at the hospital to visit his wife, who had just delivered a baby, was hacked to death by an unidentified gang. The shocking incident took place at the Kilpauk Medical College in Chennai. The deceased has been identified as Adi (28), a native of Rajamangalam. Police said that Adi was an accused in several cases.

Adi arrived at the hospital on Sunday midnight to visit his wife. After some time, a four-member gang wearing helmets entered the hospital premises and attacked him with machetes before fleeing. Police have formed nine special teams to catch the accused. Two people have been taken into custody.

The murder reportedly took place in front of the policemen deployed for patient security at the hospital. City Police Commissioner A Arun said that the policemen on duty will be questioned as part of the investigation.

BJP leader Annamalai said that it is surprising that the murder took place in the presence of policemen and that the police were encouraging murders and criminal activities. He demanded that independent agencies investigate such a case.
