Couple was murdered when probe on son’s death was ongoing, no clothes on body, killer in custody?

KOTTAYAM: More details have emerged in the murder of businessman Vijayakumar and his wife Meera in Kottayam. The couple's son Gautham died seven years ago. The police are also investigating whether these deaths are related.

Gautham left home in a car on June 2, 2017 to meet his friend and after that there was no information about him. The family filed a complaint with the police. The next day his body was found in the car near the railway tracks. Allegations were raised then and finally the crime branch took over the case.

The crime branch found that Gautham had committed suicide. Vijayakumar had approached the high court alleging that there is mystery in his son's death. The high court ordered a CBI probe. The CBI filed the FIR last month. The murder of Vijayakumar and his wife happened exactly a month after the incident.

The police have concluded that the couple’s murder was not for robbery. The killer entered the house by breaking the back door with a grinding stone. The bodies found in two rooms of the house were lying in a pool of blood. There were no clothes on their bodies. The axe used to attack the couple was recovered from the house. There are unconfirmed reports that an Assam native has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
