Faced brutality at own house, child sexually abused on previous day of murder

KOCHI: The police have found that the four-and-a-half-year-old girl who was thrown into the river by her mother, was sexually abused in her own house. The postmortem report released yesterday said that she was brutally abused. The Puthenkurish police had arrested the girl’s paternal uncle during interrogation. The police have released information that she was also subjected to unnatural sexual abuse on the previous day of the murder. Police also said that when the child's mother Sandhya was informed about this, she had no response.


The child’s paternal uncle was questioned in the presence of Ernakulam Rural SP Hemalatha. He has confessed to the crime. The child was raped at her own house. The girl, who was picked from the Anganawadi on Monday was thrown into the Chalakudy river by her mother at around 7 pm on Monday. The police found her body in the middle of the Moozhikkulam bridge at around 2.15 am on Tuesday. After the postmortem at Kalamassery Medical College, the body was brought home at 3.30 pm on Tuesday. The body was kept for public homage at the ancestral house and then cremated at the Thiruvaniyoor public crematorium at around 5 pm on Tuesday.
