KOCHI: A police case has been filed against an establishment that sold fake bags bearing the name and logo of the global brand Puma. The action is against a firm in Cloth Bazar, Broadway, Ernakulam. A few bags were seized during the search conducted here. The Ernakulam Central Police took action on a complaint filed by Puma Company's Senior Manager and Research Service of RNA Attorney B Thiagu.
During the inspection conducted in Kochi by Thiagu, it was noticed that fake Puma bags were being sold in the business establishment. He came to Ernakulam Central Station and filed a complaint along with pictures after this. A case was filed under Copyright and Trade Marks Act.
Only employees were present in the establishment at the time of inspection. The police are preparing to call the owner of the establishment and take further action. In July, international branded watches and sunglasses were seized during a joint inspection by the Customs Preventive Kochi Unit and the police. The inspection was conducted at Kochi Broadway and Tirur in Malappuram district. The authorities had seized more than 8500 watches from six watch selling shops in Tirur and more than 600 watches from two shops in Broadway. All these were manufactured and imported from China. Six FIRs were registered in Tirur and two FIRs in Kochi Central Police Station for copyright infringement. Earlier, a case was registered at various stations in Kochi for selling fake products of the Apple company.
"It's clear that this is a Delhi-made bag. They were on sale at a price starting from 150. The bags were taken into custody as they used the name and seal of a global brand.
