THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police have confirmed that the death of a four-year-old boy in Kazhakoottam was a murder. The post-mortem report stated that injuries to the child’s neck caused his death. In connection with the case, police have taken the child’s mother, Munni Begum, a native of West Bengal, and her partner, Tanbir Alam, into custody for questioning.
Munni Begum was staying with her partner at a lodge in Kazhakoottam. Two weeks ago, she had arrived there from Aluva after separating from her husband, along with the deceased child and her younger child, who is one and a half years old. The couple had also stayed at the same lodge two months ago. The forensic team inspected the lodge and collected evidence.
On Sunday evening at around 6 pm, Munni Begum brought the child to a private hospital in Kazhakoottam. She told hospital authorities that the child did not wake up after having lunch. However, while examining the child, doctors noticed injuries on his neck and immediately informed the Kazhakoottam police. Police said all aspects of the case, including the role of the child’s mother, are being thoroughly investigated.
