Girl reluctant to go to school delivers at home in Idukki, search for classmate

IDUKKI: A 16-year-old minor girl delivered at home Thursday morning at Kumily near Idukki. On being informed by her family, the police arrived home and shifted the mother and baby to the hospital.

The girl told police that she was in love with her classmate. The police have started an investigation for her classmate based on her statement. There is a technical hurdle in imposing POCSO on her classmate as he is also a minor.

Meantime, her family did not know that she was pregnant. She didn’t go to school today citing health issues. She told her parents that she was feeling physical discomfort since yesterday evening. However, the relatives did not suspect her to be pregnant.
