
MALAPPURAM: A youth has been arrested for hiding MDMA in a car in Tirur and in the washroom of his newly wedded wife’s house. The Tirur police arrested Muhammed Shiban (26) of Thavanoor Puthenpura. Shiban, who was sitting in a car in Tirur Pottilathara, was trying to escape on seeing the police. On growing suspicious, the police chased and caught him and then found MDMA hidden near the gear lever of his car.
On interrogation, he said that MDMA was also hidden in the washroom of his wife’s house upstairs in Kodakkal. The stuff was hidden inside a European closet. The police recovered a total of 1.55 grams of MDMA. Shiban was working as a therapist in a private hospital.
Meantime, two youths were arrested with MDMA and money smuggled in a car in Kasaragod. The Manjeswaram police seized 38.23 grams of MDMA, Rs 1,63,500, a car and two mobile phones from the youths. Ibrahim Suhail (23) of Shiriya Kubannur Safa Nagar under Kumbala police station limits and Muhammed Anasuddin (20) of Bandadka were arrested.
The youths have admitted that the money found in the dashboard of the car was earned from the sale of drug. The seized items were produced in the Kasaragod court. The court has remanded the accused in custody. Investigations have been intensified to trace the source and distribution network of the narcotics.
