Man pours fish curry on wife’s face; Cruelty for not agreeing to witchcraft

KOLLAM: A man tortured his wife for refusing to attend witchcraft practices. He poured boiling fish curry on her face. The incident happened Wednesday morning at around 9 am at Ayur in Kollam.

The couple are natives of Ayur. The man identified as Sajeer had taken his wife Rajila to a sorcerer in Ayur, claiming that she was possessed by Satan. Some pooja and witchcraft were performed here. He had gone to the witch the other day and then brought bhasma and amulets.

Sajeer had yesterday asked Rajila to untie her hair and sit in front to perform the practices. When Rajila opposed to the act saying that this was unethical, Sajeer in a fit of rage went to the kitchen, took the boiling fish curry from the stove and poured it on her face and body. The locals rushed to her house hearing her screams and then took her to the hospital. Meanwhile, Sajeer fled from the spot. Rajila is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The police have registered a case against Sajeer. The police said that a search has been launched for him
