Man, son arrested for murder of 35-year-old youth in Mynagappally 

KOLLAM: The police have arrested a man and his son in connection with the death of a youth in Sasthamkotta’s Mynagappally. Ramakrishnan (70) of Mynagappally Society Mukku Maleethara Unnathi and his son Sanal (30) were arrested. The dead is Santhosh, another son of Ramakrishnan.

Santhosh facing mental challenges was undergoing treatment for a long time and returned home just a week ago. During interrogation, the accused told police that Santhosh had a habit of constantly harassing his family.

A fight broke out between Santhosh and Sanal this morning. In a fit of rage, Sanal tied Santhosh’s hands and feet. Santhosh was creating a ruckus and in order to stop it, they strew chilly powder on his eyes and then Ramakrishnan hit his head with an iron rod. He was hit thrice and he died on the spot itself.

The father and son kept the information about the murder a secret. The locals came to know about the incident only this morning. Sasthamkotta police then reached the spot, completed the inquest proceedings and took the accused into custody.
