Ninth class girl impregnated by maternal uncle, held in capital city

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 42-year-old youth was arrested for impregnating his niece, a student of class nine, in Varkala. The police have arrested her maternal uncle. The information that she is pregnant came to light when she was admitted to the hospital yesterday due to stomach pain. The Ayiroor police was later informed.

The police recorded her statement yesterday and took the accused into custody. The accused had been living with his sister for five months due to some issues with his wife. There will be no one at home when she returns home from school. The accused had been constantly abusing her during this time. She told police that the accused had threatened to kill her if she revealed the information to anyone. The Ayiroor police said the accused would be produced in the court this afternoon.
