KOCHI: The body found in the waste pit of an uninhabited house in Oonnukal, Ernakulam, has been identified. Shantha, the wife of Kunnathuthazhe Baby, who lives near the Durgadevi temple in Vengoor, Perumbavoor, was killed. The postmortem report says that the cause of death was an injury to the back of the head. The police suspect that Rajesh, a native of Adimali, who lives on rent in Neriamangalam, is behind the murder. The search has been intensified for him. It is concluded that a theft attempt led to the murder.

The body was found on Friday afternoon inside a waste pit in the house behind a closed hotel in Oonnukal. The hotel and the house are owned by a priest, a native of Perumbavoor. The body was found in a tank in the work area of the kitchen of the house. The body was found when the police arrived and inspected the house after a foul smell was detected.

It is reported that the body taken out of the manhole did not have any clothes or jewellery. One ear was cut off. The 12 sovereigns of gold she was wearing were also missing.
