KOZHIKODE: A complaint has been filed alleging that further proceedings against actor Kootickal Jayachandran are being delayed in the case of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl at a relative's house. The girl's family members have lodged the complaint with the state police chief and the
Kozhikode city police commissioner. The complaint says that the girl and her relatives are facing threats and therefore the child is not being sent to school. In its complaint, the family urged the police to take necessary steps to arrest the accused and file a charge sheet.
Meanwhile, the Child Welfare Committee has sought a report from the DySP of the Juvenile Police regarding the delay made by the Kasaba Police in submitting the investigation report in the case. The police registered the case against Jayachandran on June 8. Following this, the police handed over the child to the Child Welfare Committee. Later, the child was handed over to a relative. Although the Child Welfare Committee had asked the Kasaba Police to submit an investigation report on the incident within a week, it has not yet received the report from the police.
It was the child's mother who lodged the complaint against Jayachandran with the Kasaba police. Following this, the police registered a POCSO case against the actor. In her complaint, the child's mother alleged that Jayachandran sexually abused her daughter by taking advantage of her family problems. After receiving the complaint, the police went to the child's house and recorded her statement. The police recorded the statement of the child as per the instructions of the District Child Protection Unit.
