KOLLAM: An investigation has started into the sexual assault complaint filed against Chavara family court judge Udayakumar. All details will be collected from the complainants. The complaints are being investigated by the Registrar District Judiciary, which is in charge of the district courts in the state. Based on the investigation report, the high court administrative committee will consider the matter next Tuesday. Meantime, the bar association has clarified that they are with the victim in the incident. Kollam Bar Association Secretary K B Mahendra said that they hope action will be taken without prejudice to the complaints. He said that it is not a good thing that such complaints are being raised in connection with the courts.
The complaint is that the judge tried to sexually assault the woman who appeared in a divorce case. The complaint was that Udayakumar behaved indecently towards the female who came to the chamber on August 19. The complaint, which the woman had filed with the district judge, was forwarded to the high court. Later, on 20th, Udayakumar was transferred as presiding officer of the Kollam Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal as part of the proceedings.
Mentally disturbed women who approach the family court for divorce are usually counselled by lawyers. However, it is alleged that Udayakumar attempted to sexually assault her after calling her directly to the chamber. The Kollam District Judge informed the High Court Administrative Committee after receiving the complaints. Three people have filed complaints against Udayakumar.
