Rupturing student’s eardrum, non-bailable case against headmaster

KASARGOD: The police have registered a case against the headmaster of Kundamkuzhi Government Higher Secondary School in Kasargod, accusing him of slapping a class ten student and rupturing his eardrum. The Bedakam police have registered a non-bailable case against the headmaster M Ashokan. Education Minister V Sivankutty had ordered an investigation against him. The child rights commission has taken a suo moto case. Childs commission member Mohan Kumar will visit his house and collect his statement.

The student and his family had complained against the headmaster. The incident happened the other day. The complaint against him is that when the student was allegedly playing in the gravel while standing in the school assembly, the headmaster called him to the stage and slapped him on his face. His parents had lodged a complaint with the police and the child rights commission. The deputy director of education had submitted a report. The report had recommended action against the headmaster.


However, the teachers said nothing of the sort had happened, had to beat him for not staying still. The student is undergoing treatment. The student's mother said the school authorities contacted them and are trying to settle the incident. She said that they promised her Rs one lakh to settle the case. The student undergoing treatment has to undergo a surgery.
