Two arrested for drowning to death migrant labourer

KOZHIKODE: A migrant labourer was murdered by his friends after strangulating him with a belt around his neck. The incident happened last midnight at Mayan beach near Koyilandy Harbour.

The victim is Dulu Rajabomshi, a native of Assam and a labourer of Koyilandy Harbour. The police arrested Manoranjan and Lakshmi, workers of the harbour and natives of Assam. The police clarified that a dispute after liquor consumption led to the murder.

The three were sitting on a rock and consuming alcohol near the Koyilandy Harbour. A verbal dispute broke out after that and Manoranjan and Lakshmi strangulated Dulu with a belt and then drowned him to death in the sea.

Dulu's body has been shifted to Koyilandy Taluk Hospital. The accused will be brought to the spot to collect evidence. The police are investigating whether more people are involved in the murder.
