Youth hacks wife and mother-in-law in Kottayam; search for accused

KOTTAYAM: A youth fled after seriously hacking his wife and mother-in-law in Punchavayal at Mundakayam in Kottayam. He hacked his wife Soumya and her mother Beena (65) of Punchavayal Cheruthottil. The youth identified as Pradeep hacked the two. The incident happened at 11.50 am on Sunday.

Police said family issues led to the attack. Pradeep was estranged from Soumya for quite some time. He came to the rented house where Soumya and Beena were staying and then hacked the two. When locals arrived after hearing the commotion, Pradeep ran away. The seriously injured Soumya and Beena were admitted to the hospital by locals. A search has been intensified for the accused.
