‘Along with him’; Congress woman leader doubts complaints against Rahul Mamkootathil

PATHANAMTHITTA: Pathanamthitta district UDF panchayat member Srinadevi Kunjamma stepped forward supporting Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, who was arrested in a rape case. Srinadevi clarified that the male survivor's side should also be heard and that she is with him. The response was via a Facebook Live.

'I have doubts in many places in the complaints filed against the MLA. The court has said that the allegation of harassment in the first complaint does not stand. The court also expressed doubts in the second complaint. It is painful to hear that the girl was harassed in the new complaint. However, don't you have some doubts when you hear statements like the accused bought her shoes and tried to buy a flat after the rape?

Women should give more importance to family ties. If they are married, they should value that relationship. Let the court decide whether Rahul is guilty. It should be examined whether the media is spreading false stories. Both have families. However, they do not get the same consideration. I am with the male survivors. The police may have arrested him after observing a prime facie mistake. Rahul should not be crucified until the truth comes out,' said Srinadevi.

Rahul was arrested on Sunday on the basis of a complaint filed by a 31-year-old married woman from Kottayam via email from Canada. The remand report says that she was raped at a hotel in Thiruvalla on April 8, 2024. Rahul, who escaped police custody in two rape cases, was implicated in the third case.
