‘CPM’s claim that Oommen Chandy just laid foundation stone of Vizhinjam Port is a blatant lie’

KOTTAYAM: Chandy Oommen MLA and son of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, said it will be historic when the Vizhinjam International Port is dedicated to the country today. Oommen Chandy had obtained many permits related to the Vizhinjam port and the CPM's claim that he just laid the foundation stone is a blatant lie.

The LDF government is trying to grab the credit of it. The CPM is afraid even the memories of Oommen Chandy. That is why opposition leader V D Satheesan was not invited to the commissioning function, he said while talking to the media.

Meantime, heavy security has been imposed in the capital city in connection with the commissioning of the Vizhinjam Port. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is staying at the Raj Bhavan, will arrive in Vizhinjam by helicopter at 10.30 am. After receiving the mothership MSC Celestino Marasca, he will inspect the operational facilities of the port. He will then attend a public meeting. The commissioning function will last for one and a half hours. The Prime Minister will return after the function at 12.30 pm. Around 10,000 people will attend the inaugural function. KSRTC will run a special service from Thampanoor and East Fort to Vizhinjam.
