PATHANAMTHITTA: Banners against NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair, who supported the government on the issue of faith, were seen. The banners were erected in front of the Vettipram Karayoga building in Pathanamthitta. The sarcastic wordings on the banner reads, 'Sukumaran Nair has turned Kattappa'. Nair had welcomed the government's change of stand on the issue of faith. The protest was raised against this by the community itself.
The banner says, 'stabbed Ayyappa devotees from back for family, Nair turned Kattappa, doing padaseva for Pinarayi, is an embarrassment to the community. However, it is not clear who erected the banner. The banner appeared in front of the Karayoga building since this morning.
G Sukumaran Nair, who openly said that he has faith in this government, had also supported the government on the Sabarimala issue. He criticized the Congress and the BJP in harsh language. It is assessed that the NSS leaning towards the government will be reflected in the local and assembly elections. There are those who believe that the rift between opposition leader V D Satheesan and the NSS leadership is the reason for rejecting the Congress.
Meantime, the Congress has also started efforts to mollify the NSS. The KPCC leadership will hold talks with the NSS. The effort is to remind the NSS that it has taken a firm stand on the issue of faith. Congress sources have made it clear that they will not criticize the NSS leadership and will continue to spread the propaganda that the CPM is playing hide and seek on the issue.
