PALAKKAD: Palakkad DCC President A Thankappan softened his stand against Rahul Mamkootathil MLA. He said the suspension of Rahul was only a disciplinary action and that he need not be isolated.

'When you see Rahul, should not turn away. No one would do that. Rahul came to the constituency to address the public’s concerns in Palakkad. The complaint was that Rahul was not coming. Now he has come,' asked Thankappan.

Rahul facing sexual harassment allegations, visited his constituency the other day. This was the first time Rahul visiting the constituency since the controversy broke out. Rahul arrived after informing all the local Congress leaders. Rahul visited Palakkad after 38 days.

He called on the bereaved family of a local congress leader in Palakkad. The local body elections are approaching. In this situation, many leaders had opined that Rahul should be active in the constituency. Opposition leader V D Satheesan has also not opposed Rahul's entry into the constituency. Many leaders say that despite the allegations, not a single woman has filed a complaint and therefore there is no need for Rahul to stay away. However, there was criticism within the party for Rahul not denying the allegations.
