KOLLAM: A vehicle that lost control at the Alimukku junction on the Punalur-Muvattupuzha road crashed into a shop again, causing extensive damage. A car that was heading from Pathanapuram to Punalur crashed into Biju's chips shop, a native of Alimukku, at around 4.30 am yesterday. This is the eighth time a vehicle has crashed into Biju's shop and caused damage.

A vehicle had crashed into Biju's shop last month, damaging the shutters and other items. Biju was intending to prepare goods for the Onam market when the shop was destroyed. The accident happened again yesterday after the renovation work was completed. There have been no other untoward incidents, as the accidents happen at night.

Accidents due to not straightening the curve

Vehicles losing control at the sharp curve and crashing into nearby businesses are becoming a common occurrence at Alimukku junction. The main reason for the recurrence of accidents is that the work at the Alimukku junction was completed without straightening the curve during the renovation of the Punalur-Muvattupuzha road. The locals have filed a complaint with the panchayat authorities and the KSTP authorities, demanding immediate steps to avoid accidents at the sharp curve. However, the accidents continue as the process is dragging on.
