Appointments of previous govt will be revoked, financial aid to kin of dead in Mundathikode accident, says V D Satheesan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V D Satheesan said the issues related to paddy procurement in the state have been resolved. The chief minister informed that the money will be given to the farmers as soon as possible. He was briefing the decisions after the cabinet meeting convened here today. It was also decided in today's cabinet meeting to provide financial assistance of Rs 14 lakh each to the kin of those who lost their lives in the accident at the Mundathikode firecracker factory in Thrissur.

The chief minister informed that the government would recommend a CBI probe into the death of ADM Naveen Babu. He added that the revenue department has been directed to grant compassionate appointment to Naveen Babu’s daughter as a special case.

Steps will be taken to legally remove chairpersons and vice-chairpersons appointed during the previous government's tenure in boards and corporations under various departments. The chief minister also clarified that new appointments will be made to fill these vacancies later. The cabinet also decided to impose a 52-day trawling ban in the state from June 10 to July 31.
