Reorganisation and Union Cabinet reshuffle: K Surendran likely to become Union Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the new president taking charge, BJP will go for a reorganisation and a reshuffle in the central cabinet in view of the upcoming assembly elections. There are indications that former state president K. Surendran may get a Rajya Sabha seat or an important post in the central leadership. K. Surendran, who has made a great contribution to the party's growth in Kerala as president, is yet to receive any serious recognition from the central government.

The Rajya Sabha Elections will be held for 24 seats in ten states on June 18.

By-elections will be held for three seats in three states. Of these, BJP is sure to win 17 seats. Union Minister George Kurian's Rajya Sabha term from the state is ending. It is learnt that Kurian will be transferred to the organisational charge. Instead, K. Surendran or C. Sadandan Master may be considered for the central ministry. Sadanandan Master is currently a Rajya Sabha member. Anil Antony and Anoop Antony are also being considered.

K. Surendran, George Kurian, Shobha Surendran, Padmaja Venugopal and Anoop Antony are being considered for the organisational charge at the national level. Currently, A.P. Abdullakutty and Anil Antony are in charge of the party's national affairs. Shobha Surendran will be considered for the posts of Mahila Morcha National President and General Secretary. George Kurian or Anoop Antony may be considered for an important position in the National Minority Morcha.

There is a recommendation to change the presidents in 11 districts in the state, including Thiruvananthapuram North, after the assembly elections. With state secretary V.V. Rajesh becoming the mayor of Thiruvananthapuram, he may be relieved of his organisational duties.
