Big twist in accidental death of aged man in Kozhikode; ‘fake’ doctor in driver’s seat 

KOZHIKODE: There is a big twist in the accidental death of an aged man near the new bus stand. Police said the car driver, accused in the accident, is one who has been arrested for fake treatment. M P Riyas of Tanur, the accused in the case is recently on bail. Riyas, a nurse, was posing as a doctor in Malappuram and committing fraud. The reports that came after the accident said the vehicle was driven by a doctor. An investigation later identified the doctor to be a fake person.

The accident happened in front of the Blue Diamond Mall near the new bus stand at around 6:30 am on September 25th. The speeding car hit the elderly man and the woman while they were crossing the road. The woman escaped with injuries, but the elderly man died. The dead has been identified as 72-year-old Gopalan of Naduvannur. The CCTV footage of the accident had surfaced.

Following the accident, the Nadakkavu police took the two, who were in the car, into custody. M P Riyas was in the driver’s seat. He behaved in an abnormal manner at the time of the accident. The police have registered a case against him under sections such as culpable homicide and dangerous driving.
