THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The incident of serving biryani in the office of the executive officer of the Sree Padmanabhaswami temple becoming controversial. Chief Thantri Tharananallur NP Govindan Namboothiripad has filed a written complaint with the governing body and the Kowdiar Palace, showing that there has been a gross violation of ritual. Thantri said in the letter that the meat feast in the temple premises has disturbed the temple rituals and such trends should be strictly prohibited.

Non-veg was served in what is known as the 'kitchen' in the building where the temple executive officer's office is located. It is indicated that the celebration was held in connection with the son of an employee getting a job. But this is not the first incident and there are complaints that many of the employees consume alcohol and meat frequently. It is also alleged that the disunity in the governing body is the reason for the ‘biryani feast’ to surface now.

Ananthapuri Hindu Dharma Parishad and Sree Padmanabhaswami Karmachari Sangh have come to the scene with a strong protest. The organization officials have pointed out that what happened is a violation of the temple rituals.
