KOTTAYAM: As per police findings, Sam George (59), a resident of Kappadakkunnel, arrested for strangling his second wife to death, had illicit relationships with foreign women. During questioning, he admitted that a dispute over this led to the murder of his wife, Jessy (49).
An Iranian woman who was with Sam at the time of the police arrest was found not to be involved in the murder. She has many times in the past accompanied Sam to his house. Sam married Jessy in 1994 after breaking up with his first wife. Jessy was content with her life and even treated all of Sam’s children from the first marriage as her own.
Jessy soon became estranged from Sam after she caught him cheating on her with the Iranian woman. Jessy lived on the floor below Sam’s apartment. On September 26th, suspicion grew among the three children after Sam left their calls unanswered. They filed a complaint with the police, and the resulting investigation brought out the shocking murder.
After an argument, Jessy was strangled by Sam to death and dumped in a pond in Cheppukulam, 60 km away. Sam later fled to Bengaluru. The accused was produced in court and remanded. Police said that Sam, who was abroad, returned to his homeland and joined MG University for a degree course in Travel and Tourism, to establish foreign relations. He tricked the foreign women into believing that he was single.
The resentment grew into hate and anger after Jessy told many of Sam’s girlfriends that she was his wife.
