THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More details have been released regarding Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil's anticipatory bail plea in the sexual harassment case. In his plea, Rahul argues that the complainant's allegations are false and politically motivated. Rahul states that he and the complainant, who is the wife of a BJP leader, became friends through Facebook before the allegations arose.
Rahul claims, "There was a consensual sexual relationship that developed after our friendship, but the allegation that I got her pregnant is false. The complainant later recorded all our chats, which I believe was part of a conspiracy. This evidence, including the chats, was subsequently leaked to the media. The establishment where the complainant works pressured her to file a complaint against me."
"The complainant has informed me about this. There is evidence for it. The complaint was filed with the Chief Minister with political interest. The argument that I made her go through an abortion does not hold water. The complainant took the medicine herself. Even if the argument that the complainant is pregnant is accepted, the responsibility for it lies with the husband," Rahul says in the bail application.
The bail application was filed in the Thiruvananthapuram District Court. Rahul's move came after the police registered a case and moved for a speedy arrest. Rahul stated that he will cooperate with the investigation. However, the police have concluded that there is a possibility that Rahul Mangkootathil may leave Kerala. The petition is likely to be considered tomorrow morning.
