THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP activist Shalini Anil, who was denied a seat in the Nedumangad municipality, said she attempted suicide after being unable to bear the personal attacks of RSS leaders. Shalini was responding to the media after returning home from the Nedumangad taluk hospital. She also made serious allegations against the RSS. Shalini is the North District Secretary of Mahila Morcha.

“They carried out a slander campaign targeting me. They fabricated stories so vile that I was not even able to get out of my house. Many people even informed me and my husband of the stories being propagated against me.

Some people were so adamant that they even started work to defeat me if I were to contest in the elections. The local RSS leadership was against my candidature. I couldn’t bear the humiliation, so I thought it would be better to end my life rather than suffer.

I will talk with the leadership and will carry out plans according to what they say,” said Shalini.

Shalini attempted suicide at around 2 am today. Later, she was admitted to Nedumangad Taluk Hospital. Shalini was campaigning in Panaykottala ward. She is an active BJP worker. When the candidate selection was completed, Shalini was removed from the list.
