Employees of fisheries department sustain serious injuries in car-scooter collision in Varkala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two women sustained serious injuries when a car and a scooter collided in Varkala. The two injured have been identified as Anseena of Vettur in Thiruvananthapuram and Shailaja Beegum of Cherunniyoor. The incident happened Saturday evening at Raghunathapuram in Varkala. A Scorpio proceeding towards Raghunathapuram from Varkala rammed onto the women’s scooter.

The women seriously injured has been admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in the capital city. The women officers are working in the fisheries department located in the Vettoor panchayat. The accident happened when they were returning to the office after visiting the house of a native of Raghunathapuram, to examine his application for maintenance work. The people of the area said the accident happened due to the overspeed of the Scorpio.
