Family in hospital, cash, gold of 31 sovereigns stolen from house

KADUTHURUTHY: A house was robbed off when the family was in the hospital. Gold of 31 sovereigns and cash were stolen from the house. The theft was in the house of N K Joy in Kaduthuruthy Manvettam Memmuri Neduthuruthu Myalil. Joy and his wife Lizzie were in the hospital in Kottayam on Saturday after their daughter Julie was hospitalized. The theft happened at this time. 31 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs 25,000 were stolen.

The thieves unlocked the front door of the house and then found the keys kept under the bed. They used these to open five tables and cupboards. The theft was reported when Joy returned from the hospital. The house is located next to the Manvettam petrol pump on the Kuruppanthara-Kallara road. The police dog that was brought to the house ran towards the Kuruppanthara side and stopped in front of the Manvettam cross.

The police have received CCTV footage from nearby areas. They have examined it and obtained a picture of the thieves. As per the instructions of District Police Chief A Shahul Hameed, a special investigation team led by DySP K G Anish is investigating the incident. The jewelry taken from the bank locker to wear for a relative's wedding was stolen when it was to be returned today. Although there was artificial jewelry along with the gold, the thieves did not touch it and took only the gold.
