Former DGP R Sreelekha to join BJP, leaders have been demanding to join party for long time

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former DGP R Sreelekha is all set to join the BJP. Reports said BJP leaders will visit her house at 4 pm today and give her membership. Sreelekha, the first woman IPS officer in Kerala cadre, retired from service on December 31 in 2020 as the head of the Fire Force.

Sreelekha was not in good terms with the state government at the end of her service. So, she did not accept the sendoff function usually given at the time of retirement. She had always stoked a controversy after speaking openly her stand in her own vlog. She said that she is taking BJP membership and has nothing more to share. She also said that the BJP leaders had been asking her to join the party for a long time. The state leadership had already held discussions in bringing her to the BJP. She will accept the party membership from BJP state president K Surendran.
