THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The LDF has asked the government to go ahead with steps to make a law to end the discord between Orthodox and Jacobite sections of the Malankara church. The leadership of the left factions led by minister P Rajeeve also cautioned the government to do deft work while preparing the law as it should fall within the ambit of the supreme court judgment.

The supreme court order favored the orthodox section barring the Jacobites' even access to worship churches that tilts in favor of them. The new law will curb the discord and will give leverage for the Jacobite section to exercise their right to worship while maintaining communal harmony. Minister P Rajeeve presented the draft of the law at the meeting held. The new law will have the remnants of the erstwhile K T Thomas commission and will be enhanced in a way suiting both parties.

In case of discord or scuffle between the two sections, an authority including the district collector and the superintendent of police will be formed. The chief minister said that the onus of the kerfuffle between the two sections fall on him. He insisted on ending the fight and said it is the end days for the fight between the sections as the new law by the government will favor both factions.
