THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has initiated steps to Sandeepananda Giri's ashram into an Ayurveda treatment centre. Oushadhi has come forward with interest in this. A team including chairperson Shobhana George visited the ashram and handed over a report to the health department secretary stating that it is an apt place to start a treatment centre.

Oushadhi, a public sector organization in the field of Ayurveda, has plans to start a treatment centre called Wellness Centre in four districts including Thiruvananthapuram. Oushadhi MD's recommendation is to start the centre in Thiruvananthapuram at Sandeepanandagiri ashram. The new project is at the ashram in Thiruvananthapuram where a fire broke out. Oushadhi Chairperson Shobhana George informed that the final decision will be taken only after getting the approval of the government. The ashram has 73 cents of land and a two-storied building. Consideration is given to purchase and long-term lease.

On October 27, 2018, the ashram of Sandeepanandagiri caught fire. The police have not been able to catch the suspect so far. During the Sabarimala controversy, Sandeepananda Giri was at the forefront of those who supported the government and LDF. He is also a close friend of the Chief Minister.
