THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After 23 days of intense campaigning, the state witnessed a vibrant end to public election campaigns led by the major political fronts. The overall campaign, which lasted less than a month, officially concluded at 6 PM today, marking the beginning of the silent campaigning period.
Party workers from all three fronts gathered at major junctions with party flags, creating a colorful atmosphere during the final campaign events. In many places, candidates stood on cranes and waved to supporters. Supporters arrived on bikes, scooters, cars, autos, tippers, and lorries. Minor clashes between party workers were also reported in some areas.
Meanwhile, in Ranni and Aranmula, the UDF avoided celebratory events and instead held sit-in protests against the government over flood-related issues. In Puthuppally, UDF candidate Chandy Oommen announced that the money set aside for the 'Kottikalasam' would be used to build a house for someone in need.
The LDF is confident of returning to power for a third consecutive term. The UDF strongly believes it will regain power with over 100 seats. The BJP aims to reopen its account in the Assembly and increase its presence significantly. With Kerala set to go to the polls on Thursday, the atmosphere is filled with tension and anticipation. The final decision now rests with the people.
