THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A house in Kattakada caught fire destroying vehicles and other home appliances. The accident occurred Friday morning at around 5:30 am in a house near Uriyacode LP School under Aryanad police station limits. A bullet, an electric scooter and a bicycle that were in the car porch were gutted in the fire. Wooden materials kept for the construction of the house were also destroyed in the fire. One Suku was living here on rent.

The initial conclusion is that the fire may have spread from the electric scooter. Following the fire, the house and surroundings were filled with smoke, and the family, who experienced difficulty in breathing, rushed out through the back door. Seeing the fire, Suku entered the house and took the gas cylinder kept in the kitchen and threw it out, thus averting a major accident. The Kattakada fire brigade, which reached the spot after being informed by the locals, conducted the rescue operations.

The house has suffered significant damages in the fire. Initial reports say the damage is worth lakhs. An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
