THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a possibility of the formation of a new low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the cyclone in the South China Sea will weaken and enter the Bay of Bengal by Wednesday, and turn into a new low-pressure area.
The strong low-pressure area over Maharashtra will move through South Gujarat till Tuesday and enter the Arabian Sea as a low-pressure area by Wednesday. Neither the low-pressure areas (Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal) will affect Kerala significantly. However, the IMD informed that the rainfall is likely in all districts today and tomorrow. The Meteorological Department also warned that there is a possibility of rainfall in more areas in the central and northern districts.
A warning has been issued in North Kerala today in view of heavy rainfall. As part of the vigilance, a yellow alert was issued in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts today. The Indian Meteorological Department also informed that there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts of Kerala.
