Karkidaka Vavu Bali 2024; Bali tarpan to happen at eight places

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In connection with Karkidaka Vavu Bali, District Collector Geromic George has directed various departments to make all arrangements for conducting safe Bali tarpan this time at Bali tarpan centres in the district. In a meeting attended by officials from various departments of the district, the Collector explained the arrangements to be made in connection with Vavu Bali. This time the Bali tarpan ceremonies will be held at eight places namely Thiruvallam, Shangumugham, Varkala, Aruvikkara, Vellayani, Aruvipuram, Neyyattinkara and Kadinamkulam.

Sub-Collector Ashwathi Srinivas has been appointed as the Nodal Officer to oversee the overall arrangements in the district. The Sub-Collector is also in charge of the Bali Tarpana Centre in Thiruvallam. ADM will be the Nodal Officer at Varkala and the Deputy Collector of the Disaster Management Department will be the Nodal Officer at Shankhumugham. Various Deputy Collectors will be Nodal Officers everywhere else. The Collector asked for a meeting in the presence of local people's representatives to assess the arrangements at each centre. The collector also suggested ensuring that all the rituals are performed following a green protocol.

Apart from the District Collector, ADM Premji C and district-level officials of various departments also participated in the meeting held at the Thiruvananthapuram Collectorate Conference Hall.
