
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the historic oath-taking ceremony at the Thiruvananthapuram corporation, former BJP state president K Surendran used his bragging rights by sharing an image on social media, which has now gone viral. Surendran shared a photo of the official vehicles of the mayor and deputy mayor parked at the BJP headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram. The photo came with a caption ‘Katta waiting KERALA STATE -1’ (meaning BJP has already set eyes on the chief minister post in Kerala).
Meanwhile, BJP workers are celebrating their historic victory after the mayoral and deputy mayoral elections in the capital. Payasam (sweet pudding) and sweet distribution were organised at junctions in all wards of the city on Friday. After taking office, Mayor V.V. Rajesh said that the BJP's goal is the comprehensive development of all 101 wards by including opposition parties in the development work of the capital.
V.V. Rajesh was elected as the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram by securing 51 votes in the mayoral election held this morning. This included the support of independent candidate Pattoor Radhakrishnan, who won from Kannammoola ward.
LDF candidate RP Shivaji got 29 votes while UDF candidate KS Sabarinathan got 17 votes. Two votes of UDF were declared invalid. G S Asha Nath is the Deputy Mayor.
