KOCHI: Health Minister Veena George said Kerala should not lose AIIMS due to controversies and arguments. Kerala deserves an AIIMS. The state has given a proposal to the Center to set up AIIMS at Kinalur in Kozhikode. Veena George said in Kochi that she received an assurance from the union health minister a few days ago that the state's demand would be considered kindly.
The minister said that she was informed lastly that the project was under consideration by the union finance department and that only a political decision was needed. Meantime, Union Minister Suresh Gopi has not responded to the criticism that arguments within the BJP were causing Kerala to lose AIIMS.
Union Minister Suresh Gopi came forward with the stand of setting up AIIMS in Alappuzha at a time when the state was moving ahead with steps including land acquisition at Kinalur in Kozhikode. The state wants AIIMS to be set up on the model of Delhi AIIMS.
