THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior IPS officer ADGP P Vijayan has been appointed the head of the state intelligence wing. Senior officer P Vijayan will fill the void made by former intelligence department chief Manoj Abraham, who has been given charge of law and order. The government issued an order in this regard today.
Interestingly, ADGP P Vijayan was once suspended based on a report submitted by controversial ADGP MR Ajith Kumar. Vijayan was currently assuming charge as the Director of the Police Academy. Ernakulam Range IG A Akbar has also been appointed as Director of the Police Academy.
The suspension was based on the report submitted by Ajith Kumar accusing Vijayan of leaking the travel details of the culprit in the Elathur train burning case. However, Vijayan's suspension was revoked after the findings of Ajith Kumar's investigation were rejected.
Vijayan, a 1999-batch IPS officer, also served as the chief of the counter-terrorism force. He was in charge of the Book and Publication Society and Student Cadet.
