THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of the Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) major electoral setback, K.M. Abraham has stepped down from his position as the Chief Executive Officer of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). Abraham submitted his formal resignation to the Chief Minister, following which Additional CEO Mini Antony was granted interim charge of the agency.
The resignation follows a period of internal friction within the state's bureaucracy. Even prior to the declaration of election results, senior officials, including B. Ashok IAS, had publicly criticised KIIFB’s leadership. Central to the controversy are allegations that K.M. Abraham sanctioned the diversion of KIIFB’s borrowed funds to finance the LDF’s "pro-incumbency" campaign.
Furthermore, members of the state’s IAS cadre had previously raised concerns regarding retaliatory measures taken against officers who refused to comply with these directives. Observers view Abraham’s exit as a direct consequence of the impending change in the state administration.
