'Let truth come out, my name not involved anywhere'; Shafi Parambil MP responds to apartment controversy

PALAKKAD: Member of Parliament from Vadakara Shafi Parambil responded to the arrest of Rahul Mamkootathil MLA following a sexual harassment complaint. The Vadakara MP responded that Palakkad MLA is no longer part of Congress and opined that the truth should come out. Shafi also clarified his position on the remark regarding the flat in Vadakara.

“There is no need for me to talk about the apartment controversy. My name is nowhere mentioned.” Shafi responded.

As the two shared a close bond, there had been rumours of Shafi trying to shield Rahul Mamkootathil despite knowing of the latter’s shenanigans. At the time when Rahul was expelled from the party, Shafi responded that their friendship was purely on a political basis and had no personal connections.

In the complaint, the woman talks about an apartment in Vadakara. The complainant says that Rahul had a flat in Vadakara and asked her to meet him there. Pointing this out, CPM leader P Sarin came forward with a statement targeting Shafi. Sarin asked Vadakara residents and other politicians to inform him about the owner of the apartment everyone was talking about.
