THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Central Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in the state of Kerala today. IMD also informs that there is a possibility of heavy rains in Kerala for the next seven days as a result of extreme low pressure and low pressure troughs.
An extreme low pressure is located over East Vidarbha and Telangana. It is likely to move northwest and become a strong low pressure during the next 12 hours. A low-pressure trough has formed from the north Kerala coast to the south Gujarat coast.
A fresh low-pressure is likely to form over the central west-northwest Bay of Bengal by September 5th. As a result, widespread moderate rain is likely over Kerala for the next seven days. IMD also informs that there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places from September 2 to 4.
IMD has advised against fishing in the Kerala-Lakshadweep coast today and the Karnataka coast today and tomorrow. A yellow alert has been issued in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts today. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rainfall means rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
