THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has ordered to issue vigilance clearance certificate to DGP Yogesh Gupta in five days for his central deputation. The Centre had sought clearance certificate several times, but the state had not issued it. Yogesh Gupta then approached the CAT. The order is a major setback for the government.
The government had transferred Yogesh Gupta nine times in three years. After working in the CBI for five years and Enforcement Directorate (ED) for seven years, Yogesh Gupta returned to Kerala three years ago.
He was transferred frequently to Beverages Corporation, Civil Supplies, Vigilance, Training, Crime Records Bureau, Fire Force, and Police Academy (twice). The new change is as road safety commissioner. Yogesh is also the president of the IPS Association. Fed up with his transfers, Yogesh sought for the central deputation.
The state is not providing the clearance certificate for this despite repeated requests from the center. Yogesh, a 1993 batch officer, has service till April 2030. Yogesh Gupta is a native of Mumbai.
