Man commits suicide after trying to hack wife to death in Thrissur

THRISSUR: A man committed suicide after trying to kill his wife. The incident happened Sunday morning at Aloor in Thrissur at around 8 am. The dead is Devasya of Puthusseri. His seriously injured wife has been admitted to a private hospital.

Devasya and his wife Alphonsa were estranged for quite some time. The locals hinted that there some issues between the two. It is reported that Devasya had come to the house where Alphonsa was staying the other day and engaged in a fight. They had also fought this morning. Amidst the fight, Devasya tried to attack her. Thinking his wife to have died, he died by suicide.

When Alphonsa's two sisters came to meet her, found her lying on the ground with stab wounds. They also found Devasya hanging in the next room. They immediately informed the police and admitted the injured Alphonsa to a nearby private hospital. The police reached the spot and took further steps.
