Man stabs wife to death in Pathanamthitta over suspicion of extramarital affair

PATHANAMTHITTA: A youngster stabbed his wife to death in Pathanamthitta and injured two other people late Saturday night. Shyama alias Sarimol (35), a native of Pullad, was killed in the incident. Shyama's father, Shashi, and Shashi's sister Radhamani were injured. The incident took place last night in Alumnthara, Pullad, Pathanamthitta.

Police are already on the search for Aji, the accused in the crime, who is now at large. It is reported that Aji committed the gruesome crime over doubts about his wife having an extramarital affair. Shyama, Aji, their children and Shyama's father lived together in the house in Alumnthara.

It was usual for the couple to engage in verbal altercations over petty issues. However, yesterday, the talks worsened, and Aji, in a fit of rage, stabbed his wife with a knife. Shashi, who rushed to help his daughter, was also attacked. Radhamani lived in the house next door. The accused also attacked Radhamani, who came running after hearing the screams.

Aji fled the scene after the attack. The three injured were taken to Kottayam Medical College that night. Shyama died during the early morning hours of Sunday while undergoing treatment. Shashi was stabbed in the chest, and his injuries remain serious. Aji, an alcoholic, was even before provided with counselling by the police in the area. The couple have three daughters.
